hoverboard for heavy adults

The Best Hoverboards For Heavy Adults, (Weight Limits, Specs, Prices)

Hoverboards have weight limits which specify the maximum rider weight a board has been designed for. Many of the boards on the market have weight limits ranging from 180 lbs to 220 lbs or more, with 220 lbs being the most common weight limit on average.

Finding a suitable board can be tricky if you weigh more than the average person but thankfully there are some hoverboard brands and models that cater specifically for adults who are on the heavier side.

To make things easier, I’ve compiled a list of some of the best hoverboards for heavy adults on the market and given a few details and specs about each model.

1. Swagtron T6 Outlaw

  • Top Speed: 12 mph
  • Motor: 300W
  • Range: 12 miles
  • Wheel Size: 10 inches
  • Weight: 32 lbs
  • Max Weight Capacity: 420 lbs
  • Charging Time: 3 hours
  • Warranty: 3 months

The Swagtron T6 Outlaw has an impressive weight limit of 420 lbs, making this one of the best hoverboards for heavier riders on the market.

In fact, when Swagtron was designing the T6 Outlaw they specifically wanted it to be the first electric hoverboard designed to handle a weight capacity more than 250 lbs, which was the biggest weight limit at the time.

The T6 Outlaw weight capacity dwarfs the 250 lbs weight limit!

The body of the hoverboard has been manufactured from a mixture of aluminium and ABS plastic which makes the T6 a durable, sturdy, and solid board capable of easily handling heavier weight limits without compromising performance.

You can feel confident when you step on to the board as the solid construction makes riders feel well supported and balanced without showing any signs of straining under the weight. It really is a tough cookie, unlike some of the flimsy boards on the market.

The hoverboard itself weighs 32 lbs, which is pretty standard for an off-road hoverboard.

The board is well constructed with aluminum wheel guards on both sides to absorb any damage and protect the body of the board from scuffs and other impacts.

Thick rubber non-slip foot mats make riding the board more comfortable and give riders better grip when on the board, particularly useful when riding in wet or muddy conditions.

Dual 300W motors give this off-road board a combined 600 watts of power, allowing it to reach a top speed of 12 mph and climb inclines up to 30 degrees steep.

The top speed and incline ability may decrease slightly when being used by heavier riders, but don’t expect too much of a hampered performance as this board has been built to perform at maximum capability even when being used at its max weight limit.

It comes equipped with a pair of 10” nylon-infused tubeless air-filled tires which enable you to ride on gravel, grass, mud, sand, dirt, and rubble just as easily as you would ride on roads and smooth sidewalks.

The Swagtron T6 is IPX4 rated which makes it waterproof and dustproof so you can ride it in the dirt, rain, and through shallow puddles without worrying about damaging the electrical components inside.

It takes 3 hours to fully charge the lithium-ion battery, and a single charge will give you a very impressive range of 12 miles.

The T6 has two front LED headlights to improve visibility when riding in low light conditions, and two rear directional indicators which indicate which direction you’re turning.

As far as special features it has full Bluetooth functionality which allows you to sync your phone to the board via the Swagtron app and play music through the built-in speakers.

It also has steering level adjustment which allows you to increase or decrease the board’s steering sensitivity to make it more or less responsive. This is a great feature as it allows you to make the board easier for beginners to ride, or more responsive for advanced riders.

It also features a battery level indicator, so you know exactly how much power you have at any given time, and Swagtron’s self-balancing technology which helps to keep the center of the board upright and parallel with the ground at all times, making mounting, dismounting, and riding the board easier.

Overall this is our top recommendation for those who are looking for a suitable hoverboard for heavier adults. Read our in-depth Swagtron T6 Outlaw review for more information.

The app also allows you to track your rider stats such as mileage, top speed etc. and also allows you to be able to turn the board on and off remotely.

A battery level indicator lets you keep track of your juice levels, and Halo’s ride-assist technology makes it easier for riders to mount and dismount the board safely.

The powerful motors allow riders to climb inclines between 15-18 degrees steep, although this depends on rider weight and surface conditions.

As an off-road hoverboard you can confidently ride this self-balancing scooter over rugged terrain including mud, dirt, gravel, sand, grass etc.

It has been given an IP56 rating which means that it is protected from limited dust ingress, and multi-directional high-pressure waterjets, so you don’t have to worry about water or dust damage to the internal components.

The Segway Ninebot S is a fantastic looking hoverboard that combines great design with some very impressive performance capabilities.

Firstly, the board's weight limit is 220 lbs, so although not the biggest it still makes the list because this is a truly great all-round hoverboard.

Dual 400W motors allow the board to reach a top speed of 10 mph and climb inclines up to 15 degrees steep.

It comes equipped with 10.5 inch tubeless pneumatic vacuum tires which have anti-skid and shock absorbing qualities and which can make easy work of off-road terrain like dirt, mud, grass, and gravel. The hoverboard has an IP54 rating which means it can be used in wet conditions.

Segway’s Smart Battery Management System prevents the battery from overheating and can report on the battery’s performance in real-time in terms of temperature, current, voltage, and power levels.

One of the most distinctive things about this board is the knee bar which makes the board easier to ride and control, whilst also taking strain off riders legs. It can also be used as a carry handle and is detachable for more convenient storage.

The Segway Ninebot S includes a very impressive set of LED lights....sorry I stand corrected, I meant to say 4 sets of LED lights! Yes, it doesn't just have one set, it has 4 sets of awesome looking LED lights.

The front LED headlights help illuminate the path in front of riders, whilst the directional indicators signal to other road users and pedestrians which way you’re turning.

The third LED light is a rear tail-light at the back, making you more visible to other road users and pedestrians behind you. And the 4th set of lights are the breaking lights.
