The RockSaw is an off-road hoverboard designed and manufactured by the well-known hoverboard brand StreetSaw.

This StreetSaw hoverboard can be used on rough terrain as well as on more conventional roads.

It is a tough device which has been built to handle heavy-duty use.

If you have read any online hoverboard reviews you’ll find that the RockSaw is considered to be up there with some of the best hoverboards you can buy.

In this RockSaw hoverboard review I will break down this balance board in terms of its performance capabilities, features, and construction to give you a better overview of exactly what this board can do.

Lets jump straight in.

Top Speed

The RockSaw has a top speed of 9 mph.

Whilst it may not be the fastest hoverboard in the world, 9 mph is still relatively fast if you have a a need for speed are looking for an adrenaline boost.

This balance board has got good acceleration and is able to go from slower speeds to top speed very quickly.

Motors

This self-balancing scooter has got dual 400W motors inside which are housed in the wheels themselves.

With a combined 800W of power the motors enable the hoverboard to climb inclines up to 15 degrees steep.

This is great if you plan to use this electric hoverboard off-road or on hilly, uneven, and bumpy terrain where there a lot of slopes and inclines.

The motors also give the board its top speed of 9 mph and give it the ability to accelerate at a rapid pace.

Off-Road Capability

The RockSaw is an off-road hoverboard which means it can be used on a variety of different terrain including sand, mud, dirt, snow, gravel, grass etc.

It is a tough, durable board which has been designed to handle these sorts of difficult surfaces with ease and without affecting the boards performance.

The RockSaw can reach its top speed even if you are using it off-road, so you don’t have to worry about the board’s capabilities being hampered by a bit of dirt or mud.

In fact, this StreetSaw hoverboard actually excels on these rough terrains and has excellent grip, traction, and torque which make for an exciting off-road ride.

Of course, the board can also be used on smoother surfaces like paved roads and sidewalks where it performs just as well.

This versatility makes the RockSaw an excellent personal transportation device which you can use for commuting or transportation purposes, as well as for purely recreational use.

The board has an IP54 waterproof rating so you can use this device in the wet and ride through puddles with no problems.

Wheel and Tires

This off-road StreetSaw hoverboard comes equipped with a pair of 8.5 inch all-terrain wheels.

8.5 inches is the standard wheel size found on most off-road hoverboard models.

These durable and rugged wheels allow the board to be used on mud, grass, sand, dirt trails, hiking paths, snow, and gravel.

StreetSaw have designed the wheels to be able to tackle all sorts of surfaces and obstacles without suffering any damage.

The tires are tubeless and airless so you don’t have to worry about them getting punctured, even if you ride over sharp objects like jagged rocks and other obstacles that would normally pose a threat to regular tires.

StreetSaw are so confident in these tires that they claim that they can even be ridden over barbed wired and shards of broken glass without getting punctured or suffering any damage!

Battery and Range

The RockSaw hoverboard has a lithium-ion battery which will take about 2-3 hours to fully charge.

When fully charged this battery will give you a range of 10 miles, which is roughly equivalent to 5-6 hours of battery life.

10 miles is an impressive range and allows you to use this hoverboard as a personal transportation device to get around town or commute to work or school.

The range is long enough to allow you to use this board for transportation purposes without having to worry about running out of battery power too quickly.

Because it charges so quickly, if you ride this board to college or work you can simply plug it in to a power socket and you’ll be back up to full power in only a few hours.

Likewise, if you want to use this hoverboard off-road the 10 mile range allows you to explore dirt paths, hiking trails, and new terrain without having to fret about running out of juice too soon, giving you more freedom and time to have fun and travel greater distances.

The battery is UL certified you don’t have to worry about it leaking, overheating, or exploding.

Construction

The frame of the board is made out of aluminum making it is strong and durable enough to handle your wild off-road hoverboarding antics.

It has thick rubber foot mats which provide more grip between you and the board.

They also help to absorb the little bumps and vibrations as you ride, and make riding the board more comfortable, especially over long distances.

There are aircraft-grade aluminum wings on either side to protect the board from impact damage and to provide you with some protection from the moving wheels.

All in all, the RockSaw is a very well designed hoverboard with the attention to detail and high-quality manufacturing being obvious when you look at and ride this balance board.

The board itself weighs 32 lbs, which is not the lightest, but it is the same weight as some of the best off-road hoverboards such as the Halo Rover X and the Swagtron T6 Outlaw.

It is natural for an all-terrain board to weigh more than a regular hoverboard.

Off-road models have been built to take a greater amount of damage and are constructed with a thicker body and frame.

The bigger wheels and details like the protective wings also contribute to making them weigh more.

The good thing about the RockSaw is that despite its weight it doesn’t feel slow, chunky, or cumbersome when you ride it.

It still manages to maintain a fast top speed and good acceleration whilst being strong enough to take the knocks and bumps from off-road hoverboarding.

Weight Capacity

The RockSaw can handle a maximum rider weight of 220 lbs which makes it an ideal hoverboard for heavy adults.

The minimum weight required to activate the board is 75 lbs, so the board can also be ridden by kids and lighter riders too.

Warranty and After-Sales Support

All StreetSaw hoverboards come with a 14 day hassle-free return policy, so if you change your mind within that period you can get a full refund.

They offer a 3 month hoverboard repair service warranty, so should anything go wrong with the device during that period you can get the board repaired.

Hoverboard Features

The RockSaw has a number of cool features, as you would expect from a StreetSaw hoverboard model.

Battery Level Indicator

The battery level indicator is located on the top of the board so you can check exactly how much battery power you have left in the tank just by glancing down.

LED Headlights

This electric off-road hoverboard has front facing LED headlights to help you see more clearly ahead.

These are good quality, bright headlights, and really do make a difference when you are riding in low visibility.

LED Turn Indicators

The rear end of the board has a set of LED turn indicators which alert other road users and pedestrians to your movements.

Bluetooth Functionality

The RockSaw hoverboard has Bluetooth functionality which allows you to access other useful features.

Bluetooth Hoverboard Speakers

Pair the board with your smartphone and you’ll be able to play your tunes as your ride.

The speakers have a pretty decent sound quality to them and manage to give out a good output which doesn’t get distorted, even as you ride at fast speeds.

Mode Adjustment Option

This StreetSaw hoverboard comes with the ability to adjust the mode of the board between beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Each level has a different top speed and also adjusts the steering sensitivity of the board, making it easier or more difficult to ride.

All you have to do is use the StreetSaw app to change the mode of the board and you can turn the RockSaw into a hoverboard that is suitable for kids or beginners.

If you are a more experienced rider simply set it to advanced mode to unlock the boards top speed and full potential.

RockSaw Cons

Of course, no board is 100% perfect so there are bound to be some of the things we didn't like about this self-balancing board.

One of the things is the fact that this isn’t the fastest hoverboard on the market, so if speed is your main priority than this may be a sticking point.

Don’t get me wrong -  a top speed of 9 mph is nothing to frown at, but some of the fastest hoverboards on the market can do 10 mph or more.

Considering that they are also within the same price range as the RockSaw, if you really want the fastest hoverboard you can buy than you may want to consider other options.

In the RockSaw's defense the board has brilliant handling and acceleration which still make it a fun and fast hoverboard to ride.

The other thing we don’t particularly like is the price.

The RockSaw is not a cheap hoverboard, it is on the expensive side of the scale.

Of course, this is a high-quality heavy-duty hoverboard and you definitely get a quality device for your money, but if you are on a budget you may want to consider other options.

If you are on a limited budget than check out our reviews of the best cheap hoverboards on the market.

Apart from these two sticking points there isn’t really a great deal for us to moan about when it comes to the RockSaw.

Final Thoughts

The RockSaw hoverboard is a UL2272 certified off-road hoverboard that is solidly built to withstand the knocks, bumps, and scrapes that are inevitable with prolonged use.

The all-terrain tires are solid and can handle riding over rugged terrain and even shards of broken glass with no problem.

The board may not be the fastest hoverboard you can buy but it certainly packs a punch and has awesome acceleration, torque, and traction.

If you are a heavy rider than this hoverboard has you covered - it can comfortably handle up to 220 lbs without hampering the boards performance capabilities.

This self-balancing scooter has a host of cool features which make it fun to ride and enhance the riding experience.

The ability to switch the mode of the board makes this a suitable hoverboard for kids and adults, regardless of whether you are a hoverboard novice or a more seasoned rider.

The cool features combined with the heavy-duty design and impressive performance abilities make the RockSaw one of the best off-road hoverboards out there.

It may not be the cheapest, but it is a quality product that will give you hours of fun whether you use it as a personal transportation device or purely to rip up off-road trails.

StreetSaw are known for their quality products and the RockSaw is one of their best hoverboard models.

It is a versatile balance board that has been built to a high standard, can handle off-road terrain with ease, and has impressive performance stats.
