Motors, Top Speed, Incline
First lets talk about the Ninebots S Plus speed capability.
This self-balancing scooter can reach a top speed of 12mph, making it a slightly faster hoverboard than the Segway Ninebot S, which had a 10mph top speed.
When you start approaching the 12mph top speed the board will start beeping to alert you of your speed and to prompt you to slow down.
This is a good safety feature, but it can be annoying as you may want to ride the board at the top speed without having to hear the warning beeps,
The Segway Ninebot Plus has a fast top speed thanks to its dual 400W motors that also enable it to climb inclines up to 15 degrees steep, allowing riders to use this board on uneven and sloping terrain.
Battery and Range
One of the most impressive things about the Segway S Plus is its range.
This bad boy has a whooping range of 22 miles on a single charge!
This dwarfs the range of the Ninebot S which was 13.7 miles, so its clear to see that Segway have really pushed the envelope in terms of performance with the Ninebot S Plus.
This impressive range is possible thanks to the 329Wh Li-ion battery which supplies 1500W output energy.
The battery pack will take 4 hours to fully charge.
The battery uses Segway’s Smart Battery Management system (BMS) which can send you alerts on the status of your battery pack straight to your smartphone.
The BMS will alert you in regard to any instances or possibility of over-voltage, under-voltage, over-heating, short circuiting.
The Ninebot S Plus also has an auto-sleep and auto-wake function which helps to preserve battery power more efficiently.
Construction
The Segway S Plus is constructed from lightweight, aviation grade magnesium alloy which makes it light yet strong and durable.
The Ninebot S Plus weighs only 28lbs and has a maximum weight capacity of 220lbs, which is 7.5 times its own weight!
This impressive weight capacity makes this an ideal hoverboard for heavy kids or adults.
One of the most noticeable and standout things about the Segway Ninebot series of hoverboards is the knee control bar.

Lets start with one of the coolest features we’ve seen on a hoverboard, and that is the Segway remote control.
The Ninebot S Plus comes with a remote control which allows users to fully control the hoverboard remotely, which means you can control the hoverboard without even being on it.
The remote has a joystick which allows you to make the hoverboard move forward, make it go backwards, or make it turn left or right, it’s a lot of fun!
It also has one button calling feature which allows you to locate and call the hoverboard from the remote.
Follow Feature
Another cool feature of the S Plus hoverboard is the “follow” feature. Segway have designed this feature to allow the S Plus to automatically follow you when you are not riding it.
This means if you are out and have your hands full with the kids or shopping bags, you can set the Segway Plus to automatically follow behind you.

As if these features weren’t cool enough, the Segway S Plus has also been designed to carry things like your shopping bags.
The self-balancing technology allows the board to remain upright and balanced even when no one is standing on it.
This feature allows you to put your bags or heavy items on to the S Plus and let the board automatically follow you whilst carrying your stuff!

Segway App
The Segway app also allows users to physically control the board just as the remote control does, which is great if you ever forget you remote at home.
Via the Segway app, users can check rider stats, download firmware, lock the hoverboard to prevent theft, check system diagnostics, watch tutorials, and customize the LED lights.
Users can also alter the mode of the hoverboard which makes it easier to ride by limiting the top speed.
This feature makes this a great hoverboard for kids, as it allows them to learn how to ride a hoverboard without the risk of them going too fast and injuring themselves.
Unfortunately, there are no speakers on the Segway S Plus, so you won’t be able to play your tunes as you ride.
